The thing is, we all have different skin types so we all need different ingredients to get the results we want, what may work for you might not work for another. You’ll never really know what works for you until you try it but I’m pretty sure we can help you find a few ingredients you might want to add into your skin care routine!

Marine Collagen

You may have seen the buzz about collagen lately but still may not be entirely sure what it can do for your skin. What is marine collagen? Marine Collagen is sourced from fish so it is a great substitute for hydrolyzed collagen, sourced from animals such as cattle and pigs if you are pescatarian and can’t use those products. Essentially it’s the protein extracted from salt-water fish, such as salmon, scales.

Collagen is used in a wide array of skin care and cosmetics. This is because of it’s many benefits it can bring to the skin. Marine collagen is especially great at preventing and sometimes repairing sun damage. As we get older, our skin's ability to produce collagen lessens. This means less plump skin and more ageing signs like fine lines and wrinkles! Adding marine collagen into skin care and using it frequently can help to plump the skin back up, filling in wrinkles and giving a much more youthful look. Marine collagen is a great ingredient to look for in anti-ageing skin care. Remember, anti-ageing skin care isn't just for mature skin! It’s great to use as marine collagen has preventative properties that can help protect your skin.

Our Marine Collagen Eye Gel - Awaken & transform, Youthful Eye Formula is perfect for plumping out your under eye, leaving you looking more refreshed and awake!

Avocado Oil

If you’ve got dry skin you’ll understand the struggle of finding something that actually hydrates for a long time, rather than leaves you feeling dry again within a few hours. A great ingredient to look for in your products is avocado oil. It’s extremely nourishing and hydrating and because it’s an oil, will help keep you hydrated for longer. Avocado oil is extremely high in fatty acids which don't just have an effect on your body when ingested, they can help your skin out too. Fatty acids are brilliant when it comes to texture, dry spots, hydrating and making your skin extra soft.

Avocado oil has proven to be very effective at treating skin conditions such as eczema and acne. It has anti-inflammatory properties which can help reduce swelling and redness linked to certain conditions. It’s smoothing elements are able to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles too. When you suffer from problematic skin or flare ups from skin disease or infection you don’t always want to load chemicals on your body. When it comes to chemical skin care, it’s hard to know exactly what you’re applying and what it could do to you. Avocado oil is all natural and a great alternative to chemical packed creams and lotions.

Arnica Oil

Arnica oil is a herb belonging to the sunflower family, a less well-known oil compared to something like coconut or rosehip oil but holds just as many benefits. The oil has a lot of skin healing properties so is used in a variety of treatments for skin infections such as eczema and is also used to treat open wounds. Arnica oil claims to be antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory so is a great ingredient to search for if you suffer from a skin disease. It’s a very soothing oil so perfect for calming itchy and irritated skin.

Rosehip Oil

Rosehip oil is an all round, great ingredient to have in your skin care products. It contains vitamins A and C which help stimulate your natural collagen production, leaving you with plumper skin. Rosehip oil is full of antioxidants which allow it to sink deep into the skin helping to fight signs of ageing fast. Like arnica oil, rosehip has healing properties and can help reduce scarring and redness from acne. If you’re looking for an ingredient in your skin care that does a lot for you, this is the one! Rosehip oil can fight a number of things including wrinkles, acne, scarring, uneven skin tone, textured skin and even sun damage.

This miracle oil promotes skin regeneration leaving it with a more radiant, fresh appearance. It’s great if you feel your skin is a little dull and could do with a lift! We’ve all felt our skin looks a bit flat from time to time… Rosehip is definitely the best choice to give the skin a little life!

Green Tea Extract

Weight loss, energy, digestion… How many times have you heard just how great green tea is for your body? Well, it’s just as great for your skin! Whether you’re drinking it or applying it to your face and body, green tea boasts a lot of skin benefits.

Green tea comes from the same plant as other tea’s but is not fermented. This means it holds on to more nutrients than other teas. It’s jam packed full of antioxidants which are great for preventing ageing and tackling signs that are already there. Just like a few other ingredients we use, green tea is extremely soothing and anti-inflammatory, meaning it's great for anyone with problematic areas on their skin. This extract also helps to promote the production of collagen which can leave you with firmer, plumper skin. It even helps with the elasticity!

Chamomile can be used in skin care and cosmetics for a number of reasons. Its anti-inflammatory properties are able to calm redness, especially from acne. This property comes from bisabolol which can be found in the chamomile plant. Bisabolol is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and is also non-allergenic. The use of chamomile is especially great for highly irritated skin. It’s so gentle that you can use it on sunburn and even some wounds and it’s safe to use on children’s skin also.

Hyaluronic Acid

This is another ingredient to help boost your production of collagen leaving your skin much more supple. Hyaluronic acid is commonly used to rejuvenate skin and lock in natural moisture. This acid can adapt it's moisture absorption based on the environment around it, e.g.. climate and humidity, very clever!

It's mostly used in anti-ageing skin care but can also be used to help renew damaged skin. This acid is able to penetrate deep into the skin and repair tissue fast. It's an all round great ingredient to use in skin care as it is a more gentle acid which can stimulate your skins natural ability to repair itself. It has the ability to protect your skin from UVB rays as well as prevent and repair sun damage so especially good if you're lucky to live somewhere sunny, or just holidaying!

Shea Butter

This skin nourishing butter comes from the seeds of Shea, a tree that is highly rich in vitamins. Shea butter is often used on extremely dry skin as it is highly moisturising and fantastic at protecting and locking in the skin's natural oils. Not only is it deeply moisturising but is also very smoothing. It’s able to help reduce, and prevent, signs of ageing such as wrinkles as the oleic and linolenic acids in it protect the skin, it also encourages collagen production helping to fill out fine lines.

Shea butter is wonderful for dry, cracked skin that some people suffer from due to the environment. If you’ve noticed your skin drying during the winter while your heating is on high, shea butter could help you out a lot! This vitamin rich butter is a must have ingredient if you’re more on the dry side.

Flaxseed Oil

Flaxseed oil is a less common, less well-known ingredient in our skin care. It isn’t something we automatically pair with our creams and lotions although, we should. This oil is extremely healing and can banish redness and irritation or inflammation of any kind. Skin conditions such as dermatitis, rosacea and especially acne can be helped a great deal with this oil. Because of all, it’s great properties it is able to give you an even skin tone, leaving you with less redness all over.

One of flaxseed oils best advantages is its ability to reduce your dark circles, leaving yours under eye brighter and more lifted. Some of us get them from time to time due to lack of sleep but, for some, it’s hereditary and no amount of rest will cure it. Looking for flaxseed oil in an eye cream or moisturiser should be top of your list if you’re tired of your dark under eyes!

Argan Oil

Many of us associate argan oil with hair care products and although it’s a life saver for split ends, it can also work wonders on the skin. Just as it is on the hair, argan oil is deeply hydrating. It can be used in night creams as it provides a high amount of nourishment over a long period of time. If you are looking for a good night time moisturiser, argan oil is the way to go!

This oil, sourced from the argan tree, is rich in vitamin E and fatty acids which can give your skin a natural boost of life, leaving you with healthier-looking skin. It’s a non-greasy oil which sinks into the skin quickly without irritating you at all.
