MUST READ - AVOID this if have Sensitive Skin!

Regardless of our skin type, we can all be prone to sensitivity now and again, so treating our skin kindly with gentle products is really important. And although sensitive skin can be genetically predisposed, there are a number of things in our everyday lives that can cause and exacerbate sensitivity.

To find out more about what could be causing your sensitivity, and the ‘do-nots’ for sensitive skin, just keep scrolling!

Steer clear of harmful preservatives, fragrance, sulphates, and dyes – All of the above can trigger sensitivity and so it’s important to be wary of them when looking at ingredients lists. Ingredients you should be looking for, however, are ones such as aloe vera and vitamin E, which pair beautifully with sensitive skin as they work to soothe and calm the skin. The Peachy Fox Collagen Retinol Moisturiser and the Aloe Retinol Serum feature said ingredients, and so are great for those who struggle with sensitive skin.

Exposure to pollution & dirt – We’re often exposed to pollution such as exhaust fumes and smoke in our everyday lives; particularly if we live in inner cities, and so it’s important to use skincare products to protect against the sensitivity it can cause. Free radicals are caused primarily by air pollution, and antioxidants are our greatest skincare weapon against the formation of them. Antioxidants can come in many different forms, but some of the most common and favoured forms are vitamin E, vitamin C and green tea, which is an ingredient that features across all of the Peachy Fox range!

Use gentle cleansers – Excessive cleansing or using cleansers that are alcohol-based or too astringent can strip the skin of its natural oils, which can in turn heighten sensitivity. And although it can be tempting to use cleansing wipes or towelettes when we’re tired at night, they’re bad news for the skin; particularly sensitive skin, as they are laden with alcohol and chemicals to preserve them in their packet. Instead, look for and use cream cleansers, cleansing balms or oils, as they are gentle and kind enough for all skin types, but are just as effective.

Sensitivity is also associated with redness and rosacea, and so using skincare products formulated with ingredients that work to lessen that redness is important. Ingredients to look for if your sensitive skin is prone to redness are chamomile, rosehip oil, green tea extract, as they all help to soothe and calm the skin and reduce any inflammation. The Peachy Fox Skin Calming Cream is perfect for this as it’s formulated with all of those ingredients, and the addition of cucumber extract, which has cooling and soothing properties, is great for combatting inflamed and irritated skin.
